Donations Needed

Like in all areas of the economy, non-profit funding is suffering. Last year with so many start-up costs, Gardening for Health was a $15,000 project funded primarily through specialized awards from Antioch University and Clark County Job and Family Services.  This year that funding is unavailable yet the program is still continuing and expanding. It is at this time that we approach other community businesses to partner with us as we gather materials and resources for this gardening season. We are currently seeking assistance in fulfilling the following needs:

  • Straw for garden paths
  • Newspaper for garden paths
  • Larger containers for container gardening
  • Materials needed to build Raised Beds such as soil, wood etc.
  • Bricks for special projects (cats and dogs are acceptable)
  • Children's gardening materials and tools
  • Volunteers to instruct classes on preservation and cooking
  • Cooking and Canning materials for classes
  • Reams of printer paper for curriculum printing
  • Plants, seeds and sets for garden planting
  • Food donations for monthly Community Meals

Any organization donating monies or materials to Family and Youth Initiatives Gardening for Health program will be noted by name in all reports concerning applicable gardening season, to all participants and quarterly newsletter recipients as a contributor to this project. As a 501 c3 tax-exempt organization we offer tax deduction on your donation.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Scarff's Nursery for the use of their land and for taking the time to till the garden! Without you this endeavor would not be possible.
