What We Do... The Real Life...A Matter of Choices In-School Program is a educational program focusing on inspiring, encouraging, and empowering youth in area communities to make healthy choices regarding at-risk behaviors, build strong character, and create short and long-term goals. We believe at-risk behaviors are epidemic in today's teen society. We know that when a teen participates in one at-risk behavior he or she is at a much higher risk to do more. We believe self-control is essential for good health and positive results in many areas of life. Our youth deserve only the best; medically accurate information, high standards, and clear guidance on making informed positive decisions.
We currently have programming available for 7th grade, 8th grade, and high school. We are using a five day program model for the 2011-2012 school year. The Real Life program is generally taught in the health class and is taught for a full week. Each school is given a course selection guide from which they choose five topics to be taught throughout the week. Topics include: stds, teen pregnancy, healthy relationships, character, media, body image, bullying, and drug trends. Our schools have many options available to fulfill their individual needs, as we see many schools prefer emphasis on different issues. We administer pre and post surveys to each student to measure the effectiveness of the program in the areas of knowledge, attitude, and behavior. Each one-day program contains up-to-date, accurate information as well as media enhancements, worksheets, games, activities, and incentives.
